Robocalls took center stage at a one-day summit hosted by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) last Thursday.
“Robocalls: All the Rage” went through the basics of robocalls to the technologies being used to combat robocalls today, and everywhere in between. The FTC even issued a challenge for people or small teams willing to lend a hand in the fight against illegal robocalls.
The summit, which lasted the whole workday, included six sessions, which were broken up into two sections: Where Are We Today and Developing Solutions. Through the course of the day, there were more than a few presentation slides shown. Below are some of the most interesting ones marketers should know about, along with the sessions in which they were included. These slides not only offer some helpful background on robocalls, they also shed light on laws and lines of engagement marketers must be sure not to cross. (Click on the images for larger versions.)
The Network: What is the current state of telephonic technology?
The Industry: How have technological changes affected the telecommunications industry, including entities that want to make automated calls?
The Law: What is the law surrounding robocalls? How is it enforced? What are the limitations and challenges? What does all of this mean for consumers?
